Vigneault signs extension with Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks have signed Alain Vigneault to a contract extension, quashing any thoughts of not returning because of earlier than expected exits from the playoffs the previous 2 years.

Although the Canucks did not win Lord Stanley's mug, they did capture 2 successive President's Trophy as the team with the best record in the regular season.

Vigneault came under attack for being eliminated in the first round by the eighth seeded LA Kings after reaching the Cup Final last year and lost to the Bruins in 7 games.

The Canucks have done well during the regular season, compiling 287-155-50 record in his tenure with Vigneault behind the bench. Vancouver also have 5 100 point seasons in his 6 years as the coach.
