- No official confirmation but the buzz around the league is that Alexander Radulov has been granted permission to go back to the NHL. There is also talk that he would not need to clear waivers before re-joining the Predators.
- The NHL's GM confirm and accept the Hybrid icing rule. The Hybrid rule is that when the forward and defender are chasing after a puck, instead of the back line it will be at the face off dot. If the defenseman is winning at the faceoff dot, it will be an icing call, but if the forward is winning, the game continues.
- Sean Avery told the New York Post that he is indeed retiring after this his current contract ends, which is this season, "No, that wasn't a joke, yes I'm retiring at end of season and its ok"
